Join Our Team as a STEAM Workshop Assistant for Youth Grades 3 to 8!
Are you passionate about igniting curiosity and fostering creativity in young minds? We’re seeking two dedicated Workshop Assistants to support our 10-week STEAM workshops for youth in grades 3 to 8!
About Us:
The Barbara W. Smith Family Life Center is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide individuals and families with valuable programs and resources to support human flourishing and well-being.
Role Overview:
As a Workshop Assistant, you’ll be an integral part of our team, supporting youth workshops designed for grades 3 to 8. Over 10 weeks, you’ll help workshop facilitators with classroom management as they lead youth through an exploration of STEAM classes in artificial intelligence (AI) and Drones.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in setting up workshop spaces and organizing materials to ensure a conducive learning environment.
- Welcome parents and students during drop-off and pick-up
- Collaborate with workshop instructors to facilitate hands-on activities and foster a positive learning atmosphere.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all youth participants, promoting respectful behavior and inclusion.
- Help manage administrative tasks, such as attendance records and participant feedback collection.
Requirements:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a focus on creating memorable experiences for young learners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a genuine passion for working with children.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to the needs of diverse groups of youth.
- Previous experience working with children in educational or recreational settings is preferred but not required.
- A background check is required.
